The Legend of Zelda: A brief History
If you have clicked across one or two Top 100 games of all time list you'll remember one thing from them all - the most recognized game is almost always Zelda. They generally tend to clump them together by franchise, and Zelda will battle it out with Mario for your top spot. Most of the time though, Link's magnum opus happens at the top.
The Legend of Zelda series is obviously on the same basic thing; a young boy, Link (or whatever goofy sophomoric name he has - my brother's first link was named poopFace) is called upon to perform a quest that his name sake, the great hero of Hyrule (at some unspecified period in the past) undertook. Said quest usually involves being tossed randomly in to a situation of battle (sometimes like a youngster) just to fulfill the princess from the realm, Zelda and uncover a plot by Ganondorf to consider over and destroy the realm by letting his practical the Triforce, an old remnant of Hyrule's Goddesses. Link always kicks large numbers of ass and becomes the truly great hero in the realm. The story's usually same, with whatever goofy humor Miyamoto decides to add in there along with the few variations of gameplay.
